At São Paulo’s Sustainable Business COP30, the High-Level Breakfast Roundtable on Indonesia’s High-Integrity Carbon Market brought together global leaders, investors, and policymakers to hear the latest updates from Indonesian government leaders and the signing of an MoU between the Ministry of Forestry and the Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (ICVCM). Hosted by ICGD, IETA, BPMI, and Standard Chartered, the session marked Indonesia’s first international engagement following Presidential Regulation No. 110 of 2025 on the Economic Value of Carbon, reinforcing the country’s ambition to become a global hub for high-integrity carbon markets.

During the session “Scaling Landscape Restoration Through Carbon Finance and Partnerships”, ICGD launched its technical working paper Principles for Designing a Coordinated Carbon Market Development Strategy in Indonesia. The report was presented by our Senior Advisor Edo Mahendra outlining key principles for implementing high-integrity carbon markets across voluntary and compliance schemes both for Indonesia’s domestic and international carbon markets.
